Indian Society for Buffalo Development
The Indian Society for Buffalo Development (ISBD), established on 10 August 1987 and registered under the Registrar of Firms and Societies, Haryana (Registration No. 2053 of 1987–88), is a leading scientific organization dedicated to the promotion of buffalo research, production, and development. Since its inception, ISBD has served as a vibrant platform for scientists, academicians, veterinarians, policymakers, industry stakeholders, and farmers to exchange knowledge and innovations aimed at enhancing buffalo productivity and sustainability. The Society has significantly contributed to buffalo development through the organization of scientific meetings, workshops, national and international conferences, and extension programmes. Notable national conferences have been held at Navsari (2019), GADVASU, Ludhiana (2021), DUVASU, Mathura (2023), Kamdhenu University, CoVS&AH, Anand (2024), and ICAR-IVRI Izatnagar, Bareilly (2025). ISBD has also organized several landmark international events, including the 2nd World Buffalo Congress, New Delhi (1988), 4th Asian Buffalo Congress, New Delhi (2004), Indo-China Symposium on Buffalo Production, CIRB, Hisar (2009), International Buffalo Conference, New Delhi (2010) and the 9th Asian Buffalo Congress, CIRB, Hisar (2018). Through nearly four decades of dedicated service, ISBD has played a pivotal role in advancing buffalo science and fostering national and international collaborations for the sustainable growth of the buffalo sector.
