Located in Hisar district, Rakhigarhi is one of the largest known urban settlements of the Indus Valley (Harappan) Civilization, dating back nearly 5,000 years. Firoz Shah Palace was built by Sultan Firoz Shah Tughlaq in 1354 CE, when he founded the city of Hisar-i-Firoza. Nearby stands the historic Gujari Mahal, believed to have been built by Firoz Shah for his beloved Gujri queen. The monuments are protected by the Archaeological Survey of India. For delegates wishing to extend their visit, Agra, home to the iconic Taj Mahal—a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the Seven Wonders of the World-is conveniently accessible from Hisar by road or rail.
